A Kindergarten Layout

  Hello Hello
!Welcome Back
Damn Glad to See Ya!
How's your weekend? Are you getting your 'Play' on?
oh boy oh boy I sure did...I was on a roll last night and let me tell ya - I can't hardly wait to share it with all of you.
Anyhow what I wanted to share today is a layout of my oldest daughter's first day of Kindergarten. She is now in third grade just to give you the time lapse from then until now. This layout was done maybe 6 months ago...roughly.
Two things that come to mind mid-thought...
1st: I have done layouts in the past with and without the date of the photos and/or journaling and I find I prefer having the date of the photos on the layout somewhere and then on the back the date of when the journaling was written  which brings me to...
2nd: I have recently gotten into the habit of writing the date I create the layout on the back of it as well...
Now it's possible this is just my OCD kicking in but I have been re-grouping my older layouts to more of a chronological order (since all of my 12 x 12 albums are considered 'family' albums) so I have some recent layouts next to those older ones and I find that it's kinda cool to see how I've progressed from year to year and having the date on the back gives me a reference point of where I was creatively. Does that make since? I hope so...
Now that being said - I am not a chronological scrapbooker I am in fact a 'fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants' type. I do whatever inspires me in the moment. So much so that a lot of times I feel I'm a bit ADD in my crafting. I want to do this and I want to try that and then oh wait...what's that?
I am not complaining I promise, I absolutely love crafting and creating and sharing and teaching anything and everything that I know and have learned along the way but it certainly keeps things interesting when I have a kazillion projects under way and only a hundred or more so ideas rattling around in my head.
Whew...
anyways...where was I?
Okay so in this layout I wanted to try to capture the adventure of something new...a new adventure for my daughter and certainly for myself as well, I think the file folder almost dubs as a journal of sorts and so therefore helping to create that sense of adventure, also having some pieces sticking out a bit makes the curious types want to peek inside which is exactly what I was going for.
Now what I think is totally cool is the vintage report card which is...actually a report card from when my father-in-law was in school and when my mother-in-law found them and showed them to me I immediately asked her and dad if I could take them home and scan them into my computer.
I have to tell ya I am a very lucky lady, my mother-in-law is a godsend, she is: good humored, considerate, creative, quite a bit ornery (but in a good way) and just a lot of fun to be around...I absolutely love her. She has this way of finding just the coolest little bits and pieces for me to use in my scrap/craft art and this report card was no exception. I think it completes the layout perfectly and honestly before I even started this layout I knew I'd be going with the 'vintage' look so this piece was just icing on the cake.
From the photo above I'll bet you can't guess where this little bit of ornery came from...hum. Anyways that's pretty much it, this layout really didn't need a whole lot of hot air to go with it so I decided to forego the journaling, besides that I did actually do a mini book on her first day of school and that one has a little bit more of the story so I think that'll be good enough for now.
So what do you think?
Do you like it? Boy I sure hope you did because I have at least one more if not two more layouts to share here in the next couple of days, hope you'll stop in again real soon and give those a look-see and until then...
