HELLO HELLO
New Post
and…
New Video is up!
Hope you all are enjoying your time, it’s been a wee while since I’ve been active here but I am working on being better about it. I have a few new videos up on my YT, hope you’ll go check’em out.
Here’s a few things I’ve been working on recently
Art journaling
Junk journaling
AMSR journaling
Mixed Media journaling
and well pretty much all forms of journaling
Not sure how many of you are familiar with Bella Grace, but it is probably my all time favorite magazine by Stampington & Company, aside from their Memories series they did years ago. This is the magazine that started it all…this journaling obsession. If you don’t know Please do yourself a favor, go to your local book store and ask about it if they don’t already have it in their regular circulation. If you are a lover of words and beautiful pictures and thought provoking questions and heart felt quotes this is the Holy Grail!
I think I have every issue (except the latest that just came out this month) either in print or digital form. It’s that good!!!
Anyways my reason for sharing this is just to say that…
Using journaling as an expression of yourself, your thoughts along with your feelings, this is a healthy and creative way to explore. It can be as deep of a dive as you are willing, it can be as easy or as complex as you deem fit. It’s learning about you, what makes you tic and what makes you smile and laugh; all of this and so much more! Not only learning about yourself but in some cases, learning to like yourself!
I will admit I have been all over the place, in relation to journaling styles…I have tried my hand at about all of them and what I have found is that I’m a mix between 3 and 4 styles. Sometimes I want clean and simple, other times I want it dark and grungy, and then sometimes I want it to be soft and romantic so…no one way is right or wrong…it’s really what ever fits your mood. I am a firm believer that what we think, we feel…so if your thoughts are bright and cheery - then most likely you’ll be drawn to bright and cheery colors, if your sad then you’ll probably go for darker tones, if you just finished a really good romantic story - you guessed it…you’ll probably go that direction. It’s ALL good!
For today I did more of an art/mixed media style:
I have used tin foil, tea bags, and cardboard to help create my page. For colorants I’ve used paint, archival ink, metallic wax, and alcohol inks. There is printed tissue paper, Manila shipping tags and a picture from my garden from several years back.
A bit of a closer look:
Cardboard and tin foil in this photo with tissue underneath
Shipping tag and tea bag in this one along with my pic
Tea bag, shipping tag, and faux ‘vintage’ tape on the right
Tin foil creates the ‘Post Card’ tag with tissue underneath
All in all, I’m happy with the result, and once I’ve given it some thought I can go back in and jot down some thoughts on that ‘notes from my garden’ tag, front and back if need be because the tin tag that it is slightly under is actually a tuck spot. I like for some of my journal pages to be interactive, this is a great way to do that.
I may still come back in a day or two and add in some bits of stamping or splatters, something along that line but for the most part - this is done.
Hope you like what you’ve seen and are inspired to try something new and different!
