paper sack mini
Hello Hello
Poppin' in tonight to share an oldie but a goodie, this little gem turned eight at the end of November and it's still one of my favorites.
All of it's ten pages are created using small flat paper bags that I folded in half, then punched two holes in the center fold to thread my twine through, the page will then be added to the whole using that twine to tie them all together.
There are a few interactive elements: first and foremost are the pages themselves, being that I used a flat paper bag and cut off the closed end, when I folded them, each page became a double pocket, pretty cool right? But as if that wasn't enough I then added this belly band using ribbon on the left and the flip up on the right using a scrap of Kraft paper. Also in the photo below you'll see a tuck spot worked in. I like lots of options!
The few pages that are decorated are sporting pattern paper from a couple of Prima lines from way back. Love their vintage, romantic feel and they worked so well with the Kraft paper bag color, even the gray.
In the photo above you'll see I folded the bag's original opening over trying to create a closure with that flap, but it was just to small to really do any good, they wouldn't stay put, in the end I think I finally resorted to paper clips to keep them shut. If I could change one thing, this would be it.
As for the overall mechanics of the book, each bag makes it's own page and is added to the whole with twine, as you'll notice above. I do realize that makes the spine a bit bulky but you can't deny that it's unique. As for journaling, I figure I'll write it out on a napkin or some such and then add it in, as well as photos and ephemera. So all-in-all a cool little mini to use when and wherever.
That's it for today, just a quick little to-do that I wanted to share. After doing the cafe mini book for my mom for Christmas (post coming soon)it made me want to look back at some others I've made over the years and this one caught my attention so there you have it.
Hope all of you are having a wonderful start to the new year - enjoy your time when you have time to enjoy!
Thanks for stopping in.
